Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP)
The Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) supports innovation activities with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as its main target. CIP provides better access to finance and delivers business support services in the regions.
It encourages a better take-up and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) and helps to develop the information society. It also promotes the increased use of renewable energies and energy efficiency. The CIP programme (2007 to 2013) has a total budget of € 3621 million.
Operational Programmes CIP
The CIP is divided into three operational programmes. Each of these programmes publishes a yearly Work Programme in which the specific topics, for which funding is available, are detailed. On basis of the Work Programmes calls for proposals are published.
Each programme has its specific objectives, aimed at contributing to the competitiveness of enterprises and their innovative capacity in their own areas, such as ICT or sustainable energy.
