UTILE launches a Marketplace to promote health project results funded under FP7 or Horizon 2020

The marketplace offers compelling free advantages: innovators benefit from supporting services and show their results; business developers find new partners and opportunities.

Rijswijk, The Netherlands, December 6, 2018 – Today, the UTILE Project, funded by the European Commission, is launching a Marketplace – an online platform to promote research results of the European health projects funded under the European Research and Innovation Programmes FP7 and Horizon 2020 with the aim to facilitate the commercialisation of projects’ results. This platform, designed as a one-stop shop, showcase the most promising results, offers business developers and innovators opportunities for new business and partnership development, as well as online training and matchmaking events.

Improving exploitation potential of the most promising EU-funded Health projects

Recent European Commission’s evaluation of projects funded under FP7 and Horizon 2020 schemes, revealed that an estimated 80% of innovations in health are not commercialised within the project’s lifetime. Simply put, numerous ground-breaking innovations that have great potential in improving European healthcare did not reach patients, doctors and hospitals.

The UTILE project addresses this issue by identifying research results with the highest

exploitation potential among all finished FP7 and H2020 Health projects. These results are offered on the Marketplace platforms to investors and companies for further research, partnership or business opportunities. Furthermore, the Marketplace provides both online and offline services and training to projects for the exploitation potential improvements; the platform offers matchmaking opportunities with the industry and investors who can find promising research ideas ready to commercialise.

“We are proud to propose a platform that will support researchers in the commercialisation of their findings so that the European people could benefit from the remarkable innovations in the health sector” said Cecile ten Kate, project coordinator and Senior Consultant at PNO Consultants. “Moreover, the Marketplace will continue to grow: the analysis is still ongoing and new promising offers are coming soon.
