Objective
The European Union is keen to involve SMEs – in particular start-ups and spin-off companies – in its innovation goals. That is why the EU has made the innovation-oriented Horizon Europe programme accessible for SMEs through the EIC Accelerator. The programme supports super-innovative SMEs with the aim of helping them develop and market innovative new products, services and business models that can stimulate economic growth.
Themes
The EIC Accelerator is open to innovations in any field of technology or application. However, innovations that harm the environment or social welfare or that are designed primarily for military applications will not be supported.
Details
The EIC Accelerator provides substantial financial support with:
- grant funding (non-dilutive) for innovation development costs
- investments (direct equity investments) managed by the EIC Fund for scale-up and other relevant costs.
In addition, EIC selected companies receive coaching, mentoring, access to investors and corporates, and many other opportunities as part of the EIC community.
