Luke graduated in 2018 with an MChem (Hons, 1st) from the University of Sheffield in Chemistry. In 2021, Luke was awarded his PhD in Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science from the University of Manchester. During his studies, he received numerous awards, including the Oxford Press Prize in Chemistry (2018) and the IChemE Junior Moulton Medal (2020).

Prior to joining the PNO group in 2023, Luke worked as a postdoctoral researcher working on the design and development of a state-of-the-art catalytic reactor system for the valorisation of biofuel waste products. During his brief time in academia, he published over 15 papers and was cited over 200 times.

Luke has particular interest and expertise in the design and engineering of heterogenous catalytic reactions for the development of a circular chemical economy and progress towards Net Zero carbon emissions. Additionally, Luke has much experience in the fields of surface science, the characterisation and testing of solid catalysts and the use of NMR methods to investigate adsorption effects and mass transport within p materials.

As an Innovation Consultant, Luke is currently involved with both UK national and European R&D funding schemes and delivers support across the entire grant process, from the initiation and development of projects, writing and submission of both single applicant and collaborative bids, as well as project compliance and management.
